The 2018 Vintage in Burgundy is often referred to as the ‘Heat Wave’ vintage, the passage of time has shown the wines to be both ripe and fleshy and yet with enough acidity and structure to be of mostly exceptional quality.
Bouchard Pere et Fils 2018 Echezeaux Grand Cru, tasted last evening it was -in every way- outstanding. The wine’s lush, ripe, jammy juice explodes onto the palate, a voluptuous diva in a silken gown, there is plum, cherry, raspberry and a hint of cranberry; magnificent richness and attractiveness to the fruit, powerful, before a little tension from oak and acidity balances the wine with sweeping grace on the back of the palate.
